MODERNGROUND

Modernground can’t be packaged into one neat little offering. Its founder, Rachael Barraclough, has created a brand that plays to her two key strengths: her ability to make spaces beautiful, and her love of bringing people together in festive musical soirees.

Styling by Rachael Barraclough

Rachael Barraclough’s interior styling follows a similarly personal approach to her soirées, attentive to distinctive features of the space and the vision of the client. With many years of experience in the design world, and an eye for unique and original objects and styles, Rachael draws together spaces which are harmonious, functional, and highly pleasing to the eye.

Rachael specialises in reinvigorating tired interiors: Rearranging existing furniture and objects in a home or office to create rooms that function and look so much better. By reconfiguring furniture lay-out, use of textiles, different colours and objects, Rachael can transform rooms to become inviting places to be in.

Modernground provides styling services for a variety of budgets, Rachael can work with what is already there and tries to avoid costly redecoration and restructuring. She limits her consultancy to one or two days work at most, depending on the needs of each project, However, if required, Rachael has associate partners with whom she works to provide a full service of  interior design, art curation and architectural renovation. Partners include Philip Gumuchdjian, Gael Came, Cornelia Lauf and Teodora Montanaro.

Rachael completely transformed my drawing room. My husband was very wedded to a certain colour way and layout but Rachael helped us focus on the function of the room and we were then able to reimagine the design. The room already feels so much more alive and we’re using it more often. With Rachael’s help we’re now working on a new colour way that will give the room the right vibe. I’d say Rachael’s greatest assets are her knowledge and understanding of fabric and colour, her diplomacy when it comes to managing couples’ opposing visions and her tendency to get stuck in, moving things around to help you see how things could work right there and then.
